NATIONAL FILM INSTITUTE MATRICULATES 167 STUDENTS




    National Film Institute (NFI) located in Jos, Plateau State, will on Tuesday October 22, 2019 matriculate 167 of its students for the First Degree and Diploma Certificates in Film Arts. (2018/2019 Academic Seesion). A breakdown of the number of students for the matriculation shows that 46 have been admitted to undertake the first degree programme in Film Arts through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME; 27 through the direct entry mode the first degree programme in Film Arts and 88 for the Diploma Programme. The matriculation ceremony, which will be preceded by the World Press Conference on the commencement of the Master Degree Programme in Film Culture & Archival Studies, to be jointly addressed by Professor Sebastian Maimako Vice Chancellor, University of Jos; and Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, Managing Director/Chief Executive, Nigerian Film Corporation, who also doubles as the Chairman, Governing Council of the National Film Institute, takes place 9.00am, at the Institute’s permanent site, Nupkis – Lamingo, Beside JUTH, Jos. The Institute is equipped to provide training of the highly specialized manpower needs of the film industry. The philosophy of the National Film Institute is to provide a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary programmes for educational and manpower development, taking into consideration, the socio-cultural conditions and the unique educational needs within its immediate catchment areas, and Nigeria as a whole. The NFI undertakes a Two -Year Diploma Programme, Four-Year Degree Programme (UTME), Three-Year Degree Programme (Direct Entry) in Film Arts, and a Two Year Master of Arts Degree Programme in Film Culture & Archival Studies (Jointly undertaken by NFC/NFI & Unijos, etc.)
